Buckfast Queen Mated
Queen Qualities - These queens produce bees that have an early spring build up. They are excellend honey gathers but also show a lower swarming instinct. A bee that is calm on the comb and easy to handle with a high resistance to diseases. They maintain a strong colony during the summer, their gentle manner allows the beekeeper to work with minimal use of smoke even opening the hive in bad weather.
Swarming is one of the biggest challenges we face as beekeepers. Even with a quality buckfast queen, with a very low swarming instinct like this one, it would be a mistake to assume that they won't swarm. Swarming is natural reproduction for honeybees.
