These Buckfast queens are crossed with the Apis Mellifera Cecropria are very prolific with a low swarm instinct, gentleness and a high resistance to diseases. They produce less propolis than other races, overwinter very well using less honey stores. They have a boundless capacity for foraging and build up rapidly in the spring. They maintain a strong colony during the summer and their gentle manner allows the beekeeper to work with minimal use of smoke even opening the hive in bad weather.

These Buckfast queens are bred in Greece, they are naturally open mated and all of our queens come marked, white for 2021.

About Delivery & Ordering
Our first are available from around early April but this is weather dependant. Whilst we will do our best to send the queens to week you request, we cannot always guarantee this, we do however keep you informed of any delays by email and we also email when the order is dispatched so that you know your queen is on her way to you.

Delivery options

  • 1st class post no extra cost
  • Special 24hour delivery £6.00 - you need to sign for this service. This means you get the queen the day after we post not the day after you order.

Any queen found dead on arrival will be replaced free of charge providing we are contacted immediately, either by email or telephone.  We will replace a dead queen once only.

Further advice about queen introduction can be found here.

You may also consider using a queen introduction cage; this cage fits directly onto a comb with brood and increases the acceptance rate of the queens.
