WBC Cedar Hives
The WBC hive was designed in the late 19th century and is a very attractive, classic hive.  It is the image a lot of people see when they think if a bee hive.  The WBC is double walled which gives extra insulation however this makes inspections a little bit more complicated and laborious as you have 2 layers to dismantle.
The components are made of much thinner material then other hives but they are much more expensive.  The internal brood chamber only holds 10 frames which does give a smaller area for the queen, due to this we recommend and that you purchase WBC's with the deeper 14x12 brood box to give plenty of space for the queen to lay.  The boxes are rectangular not square and are therefore not compatible with any other hive, WBC supers must be used.
